Tại Âu Mỹ, điển hình là những vụ "gài bẫy" của FBI, những mánh lới thao túng ngôn ngữ pháp lý trong việc bắt bớ các trang mạng, kết tội các danh hài, bắt bớ trẻ em thẩm tra vì những câu nói tự nhiên , nhất là "đạo luật" truy tố bất cứ ai chất vấn SỬ CHỨNG của sự kiện Holocaust , một sự kiện lịch sử đã trở thành "chân lý tuyệt đối, bất khả tư nghị" hơn cả tín lý tôn giáo thượng đế v.v đã xác chứng sự thật này.
Mới nhất tại Mỹ là trường hợp nhà báo Barrett Brown bị tống giam 63 tháng. Bất chấp chứng cớ rõ ràng được trình bày trước "tòa công lý" (sic), chánh án cũng như công tố, gạt bỏ nguyên lý của chứng cớ (burden of evidence), của "chứng cớ vượt mọi ngờ vực" (beyond reasonable doubt), nhất định gài bẫy cột tội Barrett Brown.Một cựu quan chức cao cấp của nhà nước Mỹ đã phải thốt lên những xác minh chua chát và phẫn nộ:
