Will a China Real Estate Collapse Trigger the Global Meltdown?

Prevailing financial sector “wisdom” holds that while the bond and stock markets of the US and EU are dangerously inflated following huge COVID borrowings and unprecedented central bank measures, that China is the one example of a market suitable for investment as it has managed to get beyond COVID and restart its economy. A closer look at recent official measures by Chinese financial regulators and the Bank of China suggest it is anything but safe, and that its domestic real estate sector could be a bubble whose collapse can trigger a global financial catastrophe beyond any seen in modern history.

In 1931 the world financial architecture of Versailles was bankrupt, but not yet in financial collapse. The key trigger to pull the world into the Great Depression was not the 1929 Wall Street stock crash, but rather the collapse of a relatively small Austrian bank.

In ways remarkably analogous to the unfolding global financial crisis of today, world credit had been built after 1919 on a pyramid of increasingly dubious debts, with the House of Morgan and Wall Street financial firms sitting at the peak of the pyramid. Most of Europe and a large number of developing countries from Bolivia to Poland were linked into the Wall Street credit pyramid. In 1929-1931, the domino-style failure of those Morgan-initiated credit links to Europe and beyond turned a manageable American stock market crash into the worst deflation crisis in American history, precipitating a global depression.

The amount of foreign bonds issued by Wall Street in the decade until the 1929 market crash was about $7,000,000,000, a huge amount equal to nearly 10% of total US Gross Domestic Product. The war-damaged European economies used more than 90% of these American loans to buy American goods, a boon to major US corporations listed on the New York Stock Exchange. When the buying collapsed after 1929, however, Wall Street’s foreign lending boom became a vehicle that severely worsened the US industrial depression. The whole edifice of dollar credits that supported Europe’s debt pyramid during the 1920’s rested on the loans of New York banks, above all from J.P. Morgan & Co., to Europe to refinance short-term credits. The US Government had insisted at Versailles in 1919 that Britain, France and Italy repay its US war loans in dollars.

Much of the credit from New York banks had flowed into Germany after the 1924 Dawes Plan currency stabilization. Within six years, various German municipalities, private companies, port authorities and other entities, had issued bonds underwritten by New York banks and sold to American investors. Germany borrowed nearly $4 billion from abroad during this period.

In the period from 1924 to 1931, almost $6 billion in American credit poured into Europe, equivalent in 2021 to some $92 billion. If US war loans by the Treasury, and the costs of the War itself were added, a total of $40 billion in US funds had gone into Europe in less than 15 years, fully one-fifth of total American GDP in 1914.

America’s conspicuous consumption during the ‘Roaring Twenties’ was based on an illusion of rising household wealth for the majority of its citizens. This debt-driven consumption created the nation’s illusory wealth — the Achilles Heel of the economy. In America, by 1929 fully 60% of all cars and 80% of home radios were bought on installment credit. Behind the façade of American prosperity of the 1920s was an edifice built on debt and illusions of permanent prosperity and rising stock prices, in many ways similar to China since 2000. Once the consumer credit carousel stopped in 1929-1931, the consumption boom collapsed, as the majority of Americans simply could not afford to buy on credit any longer.

In March 1931, Austria, a tiny shard of the prewar Austro-Hungarian Empire with 6 million people, announced it had entered talks with Germany to create a common customs union to boost trade, as depression threatened. Such a union would not even be a technical violation of the Versailles Treaty. It was certainly no threat to world security.

The Government of France reacted swiftly and demanded immediate repayment of some $300 million in short-term credits owed by Germany and Austria to French banks, to pressure both countries to halt their customs union. The demands triggered a panic flight from the shaky Austrian currency. The weakest link in the Austrian financial system was the Vienna Credit Anstalt Bank. It was also the largest bank in Austria. The collapse of the Credit Anstalt led to a depositor panic run on the Darmstaedter-und Nationalbank or Danat-Bank in Germany, and created a currency crisis for the Brüning government, as well. At that point, the Bank of England, the US Federal Reserve, the German Reichsbank, and the Bank of France met to discuss an emergency credit infusion to try to stop the spread of currency panic. It was too late.

China As the new Credit Anstalt?

The analogy today with the unsound Austro-German credit bubble of the 1920s lies ironically, not with the United States, but rather with the Peoples’ Republic of China, and the staggering growth of personal household debt there since the 2008 global financial crisis. The Beijing central authorities in a panic reaction, released an unprecedented volume of $504 billion in credit to local authorities with a mandate to invest to spur the economy. Nowhere was the investment more than in housing, where a new middle-income population was willing to borrow to get their own home.

By 2016-17 Beijing authorities realized that a dangerous speculative bubble in rising house prices threatened the economy. Restrictive measures only drove local authorities and banks into covert “off-balance sheet” lending via so-called local government financing vehicles (LGFV), where the local governments create an investment company that sells bonds to finance real estate or other local projects. With real estate prices inflating at double digits annually to the present, the size of real estate debts has grown to the point today the Peoples’ Bank of China and other regulators openly warn of a bubble as many families rush to borrow for a second home for speculative gain.

Total household debt including mortgage and consumer loans for cars and household appliances in 2020 was a whopping 62% of GDP. The Institute of International Finance (IIF) estimated that China’s total domestic debt rose to 335 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2020. Some have drawn comparisons to the insane real estate inflation in Japan in 1990-91 before the collapse.

In 1998 the Beijing Government allowed citizens to own their own home. The emerging middle class eagerly bought new apartments that were rising everywhere in the major cities. Real estate was viewed as the only safe investment as stocks and bonds were volatile, and capital export was controlled. For the past two decades home price valuations have risen significantly, leading many Chinese to believe it could never stop. This February, despite official measures, China home prices rose year-year by 16.8 %. According to data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics the total market value of China’s real estate is currently around 65 trillion US Dollars– that’s trillion. In 2019, China’s GDP was $14 trillion US, making China real estate far more inflated than USA or EU values by a big margin. A 2018 study found Chinese home prices averaged 9.3 times annual incomes, outstripping inflated San Francisco’s 8.4 times.

Beijing is clearly alarmed and since January has issued strict measures to force local governments away from continuing to feed the real estate bubble. In 2020 to counter the corona lockdowns and economic recession, Beijing issued major stimulus measures. Now with the economy slowly restarting, Beijing is determined to deleverage the bubbles in stocks as well as real estate in hopes of creating what Xi Jinping calls “dual circulation” which in effect, means while trying to maintain growth of exports, that China increasingly gets its 1.4 billion citizens to consume more domestically to lessen dependence on risky exports. This will be no easy job, even for the formidable Chinese.

What Beijing authorities are attempting to do is to cap the real estate bubble, to block speculative borrowing for second homes, in hopes the funds will go to other consumption.

China Debt Pyramid

Xi Jinping and the central government face a high risk dilemma. With the world economy descending by the day deeper into decline, Xi recently issued orders for local governments to insure spending on infrastructure to maintain “dual circulation” economic growth. Yet at the same time, to deflate what it sees as a potentially systemic real estate bubble, Beijing demands local authorities stop new lending off-balance sheet to finance home buying via LGFVs. Something has to give, and it could be default of millions of Chinese on their mortgage loans as unemployment, largely hidden in government data, reportedly grows significantly.

Last September, China’s Evergrande Group, as of 2018 the world’s most valuable real estate company with some $121 billion in real estate and related debt, underwent a cash crisis owing to its excessive debt burden and the slowing economy. In a desperate effort to develop new revenue sources, the real estate group has diversified into solar panels, pig farming, agribusiness, and baby formula. Not a reassuring sign.

The Evergrande crisis is for the time being under control, as it sells billions of assets to reduce debt. However the scare led Beijing authorities to double down on local hidden real estate debts.

According to the state’s National Institution for Finance and Development estimate, total local hidden debt reached an impressive 14.8 trillion yuan or $ 2.3 trillion in 2020. That’s likely very conservative. Standard & Poors estimates the total at between 30 trillion yuan (US$4.2 trillion) to 40 trillion yuan (US $6.1 trillion). Even that may be conservative, as it is deliberately hidden. Since January strict new rules from the central authorities seek to kill or cap such hidden real estate loans in a drive to shift investment into local infrastructure and industry—dual circulation.

On March 16 Liu Guiping, a deputy governor of the People’s Bank of China wrote about financial risk, “We need to… actively and effectively curb the spread of financial risk contagion, and resolutely maintain the bottom line of avoiding systemic financial risks.” That however is easier said than done.

China’s domestic debt has been growing at an average annual rate of around 20 per cent since 2008, far faster than its gross domestic product, a recipe for serious trouble. Official data showed that outstanding household debt, including mostly real estate debt, at the end of 2020 stood at 63.19 trillion yuan (US$9.7 trillion). That’s equivalent of 62 per cent of Chinese gross domestic product.

In 2021 a record 7.1 trillion yuan ($1.1 trillion) of such special local bonds come due and must be rolled over to avoid collapse of local governments. That will mean that the big state banks must somehow finance the local debt, much of it of dubious or “junk bond” value. This, just as Beijing demands the banks finance new infrastructure and growth initiatives outside real estate while also reducing own debt. Despite official loans from Beijing to local authorities to finance small and mid-size business, South China Morning Post reports that in some cases the financing was being obtained by dummy shell corporations and then used illegally for real estate investments.

If troubles in this local bond market spill over into the national sovereign bond market, a huge market worth a staggering $18 trillion, that would drive bond rates far higher, triggering a wave of local defaults in less viable projects including real estate. It is certain that the PBOC, the state central bank, would then pump liquidity to save its giant state banks. But given the scale of the debt, that could well force liquidation of China dollar assets abroad, including its estimated $1.04 trillion of US Treasury debt, as well as Euro bonds.

Ironically, major Wall Street firms such as Ray Dalio’s Bridgewater or BlackRock, and major Wall Street banks, have been investing in the promise of a China economic recovery. With the US bond markets on a razor’s edge in recent weeks with a new $1.9 trillion Biden stimulus and national debt soaring skywards, it would take little from a China bond crisis to trigger a repeat of the 1931 Austria crisis. Only this time, the entire world economy is bound in a debt system that is out of control. As of January, global debt has climbed to a record $281 trillion, adding an unprecedented $24 trillion in 2020 for corona measures. It looks like this is all part of the Great Reset plan: Blame China for what the BIS central bankers, the real gods of money have engineered since 2008.

China, the Quad, and the Next “Great” War

The stage is now being set for the next great war on the so-called “Grand Chessboard.”

As anyone who has been paying attention to global geopolitics in recent years will know by now, the US Empire (the US, the UK, Israel, the Five Eyes allies, NATO and all their regional allies and vassals) are preparing to square off against China and the Axis of Evil (China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and any state that provides any resistance to the US Empire) for global control in the 21st century.

And, as readers of this column will be uniquely prepared to understand, this entire conflict is part of a 3D chess game that is taking place over and above the regular, 2D nation-state chessboard that we are being asked to fixate on.

However, there is a 2D chess game going on, and it is part of the Problem-Reaction-Solution that the 3D chess players are using to bring about their agenda. So today let’s examine the latest moves on the grand chessboard and see what they reveal about the globalists’ plans for total control.

Problem: The Rise of China

All hail Chinese democracy!

Remember five years ago when everyone was talking about the 十三五? Well, guess what? It’s already time for the 十四五! (My, how the half-decades fly by!)

Yes, as you no doubt know by now, the Chinese Communist Party just wrapped up the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. And, as you also know, dear informed reader, that means that the ChiComs have just laid out their next five-year plan. (Do you have your copy yet?)

There are at least four categories of hot take on what the latest five-year plan entails.

There are the hot takes from the partisan lying mockingbird repeaters in the controlled establishment press who are trying to scry the tea leaves for weaknesses and vulnerabilities of the New Red Menace™. Observe, for example, Foreign Policy‘s gloating that the plan shows Beijing’s “lack of ambition” or The Economist‘s finger-wagging about China’s lackluster carbon reduction efforts or the Council on Foreign Relations’ warning of Beijing’s “growing urgency to protect China from external vulnerabilities through attaining self-reliance in science and technology.”

There are the hot takes from the actual state-controlled Chinese media. See Xinhuanet‘s calm and measured observation that the passage of the plan “demonstrates the unity of the leadership of the Party, the position of the people as masters of the country, and law-based governance.”

There are the hot takes from various industry publications that focus on what the plan means for those seeking to corner the domestic Chinese market for their goods or what China’s moves will mean for their sector. Thus, PitchBook concentrates on China’s efforts to woo foreign capital by loosening restrictions in certain industries, Nature emphasizes China’s decision to create a “strategic research force for the nation,” and Power Technology does a deep dive on the implications of the new five-year plan for the energy sector.

And then there are the hot takes from quasi-independent media sources that—in seeking to combat the predominant establishment narrative—serve mostly as a mouthpiece for ChiCom talking points. Take Pepe Escobar, for example, whose latest piece on The Shape Of Things To Come In China starts out by reporting on the details of the five-year plan and ends up in a paean to the Chinese Communist system of technocratic tyranny, claiming that “public opinion confidence in the Beijing leadership remains solid” and that the ChiComs system “is like a sophisticated mix of internationalist Marxism with Confucianism (privileging harmony, abhorring conflict): the framework for ‘community with a shared future for mankind.'”

What all of these perspectives ultimately serve to do is to reinforce the central narrative of the New Cold War: that the rise of China is a threat to the Western establishment. This narrative bolsters the impression that the 2D chess game is really the game for all the marbles (to mix gaming metaphors) and it throws the general public into a fear state, where they are more apt to call for action to combat this vile threat than to seek to understand the nature and origins of this threat.

That’s convenient for the 3D chess players, because it plays right into the next stage of their controlled dialectic, namely . . .

Reaction: The Rise of the Quad

Scared yet, China?

As Newton taught us, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. And so it is that, once we are conditioned to believe in the rise of the New Red Menace™, we are simultaneously prepared to expect a reaction from the West.

Thus, when the Japanese see headlines about the Chinese naval threat against the (uninhabited) Senakaku Islands and the Australians read about how their government is being threatened by the ChiComs and the Indians read about Chinese cyber intrusions into key infrastructure networks and Americans read the latest story about the Chinese bogeyman (today’s horror story: China is coming for South America!), it seems only natural that our valiant political leaders would do something to counteract this neo-Yellow Peril.

Well, fret not, dear scared citizen, your leaders are indeed taking action. They’re forming The Quad!

No, “the Quad” is not some new Marvel Comic superhero team; it’s the snappy name for the US/Japan/Australia/India alliance that is seeking to keep that rising Chinese menace in check. The Quad—formally known as the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue—was first proposed by then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2007, but was activated in the Trump Administration during Pompeo’s Indo-Pacific security push.

Like everything else of significance to the 3D chess players, the transition from the Trump-era Quad to the Biden-era Quad has been seamless. Trump Secretary of State Mike “lie, cheat, steal” Pompeo’s call in October of last year for the Quad to become an “Asian NATO” became Biden’s call for a Quad leaders summit this month as if nothing at all had happened in the intervening months.

The fact that Team Coke and Team Pepsi are working toward the same foreign policy goals is baffling to those stuck looking at the 2D chess board, but from the 3D perspective, this continuity of agenda is telling. It demonstrates that the China bogeyman narrative is important to those who are steering this agenda. Whatever flavour of cola is in power, it is essential for the public to understand that China is The Enemy and must be confronted by The Good Guys. Hence, the Quad marches on.

As I’ve demonstrated at length before, it’s not that the ChiComs and their “axis of evil” friends are actually the misunderstood good guys in all of this. It’s that the entire ChiCom threat has been carefully and deliberately constructed by wealth transfers, banking agreements, R&D investments, military technology “leaks” and offshoring of manufacturing over the course of several decades. Just as Antony Sutton demonstrated with regards to the Soviet Union in Cold War 1.0, the neo-Red Menace of Cold War 2.0 is similarly a paper tiger constructed by the same network of 3D chess players on the global chessboard and for the same purpose: to prepare the public for the inevitable “solution.”

Solution: War

Are you a pawn on their chessboard?

As I’ve often had cause to observe, you don’t need to have a crystal ball to see where this is headed: war.

Yes, we all know that we are in the preparatory stages to outright confrontation right now. The pieces are being set in place, the narrative is being formed, and the pawns in the game (you and me) are being told why we will have to fight and die for the glory of our square on the grand chessboard.

But this is a phony narrative. In reality, there is a war taking place, but the war is not a war between China and the US. It’s taking place between the so-called, self-appointed “Superclass” that stands over and above this nation-state system and the average person.

The end goal is not to destroy either the American Empire or the Chinese Communist system, but to merge these systems into the worst of both worlds, a technocratic tyranny where the few rule over the many. This is, in some ways, the very premise of all of the work that I have been doing here at The Corbett Report for the past 14 years, so either you get it by now or you don’t. But if you don’t, this explanation might be the easiest way for you to understand the concept.

If you do understand it, then I think it is imperative that we make a commitment right now not to be swept up in the war hysteria that will inevitably be sweeping over the population in the coming years. We cannot control the 2D chessboard ourselves, but we can at least control what role we have in this game and can refuse to play the part of obedient pawns in the game.

In the end, the average Joe (or Zhou) on the streets of Shanghai is not your mortal enemy. The actual threat to your life and livelihood come from the would-be misleaders who have lied to you about 9/11 and the war of terror and weapons of mass destruction and the 2008 financial crisis and the wars in Libya/Syria/Yemen and COVID-1984 and nearly everything else of importance.

The politicians and establishment media mouthpieces for the real ruling oligarchy—the 3D chess players who are manipulating this game for their own benefit—are now trying to gin the public up into hysteria over the growing Chinese menace even as they’re attempting to implement Chinese-style lockdowns and facial recognition systems and social credit scores at home.

There Is no Covid and There Is no Pandemic: There Is Only Deception and Tyranny

It is important to point out that this information is not new, it is not surprising, it is not “conspiracy theory,” and it will not be reported in the mainstream media. It is however, illustrative of the blatant deception and criminal fraud being pursued by not only the claimed ruling ‘elite,’ but by the entire political class and the CDC as well. This fraud is being perpetrated and advanced by those pretending to represent all of you; those immoral and evil people that make up what is called government. They promise to uphold a duty to protect society from any infringement on its liberty, but the opposite of course is the case. All that is certain about politicians, the lowest form of human on earth, is that they at every level are the most dangerous enemy of mankind.

The information that outlines this hoax comes directly from the CDC. The report in question is called the: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 from Patient with Coronavirus Disease, United States. The analysis was done by Dr. Tom Cowan, and reported on by Jon Rappoport. While this report is somewhat complicated to read by the layperson, it is very clear in that it exposes the absolute fraud involved in attempting to cover up that no real isolation or proof that SARS-CoV-2 exists has ever been accomplished. This is evident in that the CDC’s own report exposes this fact, while attempting to show otherwise. This is pure deception based on the CDC’s belief that the American public is to too stupid to understand their dishonest trickery.

Rappoport’s analysis is spot on, and goes into great detail about the unscientific and asinine methods used to attempt to hide the truth in a lie. The CDC article in question was discovered by Sally Fallon Morrell. Her co-author, Dr. Cowen, exposes the fraud in his article titled: “Only Poisoned Monkey Kidney Cells ‘Grew’ the ‘Virus’.” The entire process was a scam, just like the virus is a scam. Of course, none of this is about any deadly virus; it is only about using a make-believe virus as an instrument of fear in order to gain mass compliance so as to achieve the total submission of billions of people. In that light, this entire episode in the U.S. could be classified as a false flag operation, but instead of attempting to use misplaced terror to go to war against another country, this war sought will be against the citizens of America and the world.

In simple terms, the basis of all this analysis is that no isolation, separation, or identification of any deadly novel coronavirus has ever occurred. The CDC report makes clear that instead of isolating and doing any proper gene sequencing, only 37 pairs of completely unpurified samples out of approximately 30,000 were tested by using PCR probes. No PCR test can isolate or identify this ‘virus.” No PCR test can diagnose anything referred to as Covid-19. In addition, this information was put into a computer program, which is scientific and manipulated fraud. A consensus method was then used to decide the results of this fraudulent isolation ‘attempt,’ negating any true science whatsoever. The entirety of this so-called analysis was nothing more than a premeditated attempt to deceive the public, and to advance propaganda so treacherous as to have the ability to shut down the world, cause future mass death and destruction, and destroy the economy of this country and beyond.

As I reported in this article, the numbers of deaths worldwide this year are close to the same or less than last year. In other words, there are no additional deaths worldwide, and a similar analysis of the United States deaths shows the same conclusion. That conclusion is that there are no additional deaths. So where is the ‘pandemic?’ It seems those deaths due to cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and many other diseases and natural causes are all down this year. Of course this is not true, it is just that every death possible is coded as a Covid death in order to pad the numbers so the state can continue to spread its fear. This is all part of the scheme to keep this scam alive.

This virus plot was designed in the first degree, and planned for many years in advance. Timing was extremely important, as the populace had to be considered weak enough, and fearful enough to accept the deception that a dangerous virus was not only present, but also was deadly enough to infect all, and kill large numbers of people. This happened almost overnight, and within a few weeks, the entire nation had been brought to its knees. A coup of this magnitude is difficult to imagine, and almost impossible to believe, but just from March until April of this year, the world was transformed from one that was open and functioning to one that was shut down and on the verge of collapse. Since that time, things have not improved, as the rest of the spring and summer brought continued devastation. During that time, some things were opened again, although restrictions remained in place, but that was just a carrot dangled before the people in order to perpetuate the pandemic fear long enough to get to the next flu season. Now the state terror will not only resume, but will be much worse. This is already obvious, as more lockdowns are occurring around the world, as the fake case numbers continue to rise due to bogus PCR testing. We are now entering the more advanced stage of this conspiracy, and the final push is beginning, and will most likely take off without pause after the ludicrous presidential election occurs.

There truly is no time left. Without mass resistance, without serious pushback by large numbers of people, and without a refusal to obey state mandates, we face unprecedented times. Everything the people have been told about this fake ‘virus’ emergency has been a lie. That was the plan all along, and it will continue to get worse and more deadly every day until total control is achieved. Once that happens, there will be no road back. It is time to stand together, instead of allowing hate to be bred by your masters.

PQC: Folks, this is the best and the most forceful analysis on the Covid crime of Governments I have found in the circle of modern “intellectuals” since Covid fraud began! The author rightly called out the government as culprits, and correctly called for popular action against the order of the State, though this is very unlikely to happen since most of people and the “intellectual” class have tried their best to play down the governments’ criminal role in this fraud and crime against humanity! They still need “the roads” to pay tax and “the laws” to obey!

However, somehow he stops short at calling out the dangerously flawed system of government power that makes this unprecedented crime possible. even though the author correctly stated that politicians are worst kind of people. They are in fact thieves, crooks, murdered, psychopaths who exist in every society. We cannot make them disappeared or ceased to be born into this world. But we can get rid of the system of government power which is their exclusive playing ground that makes them so dangerously powerful!

Without the system of government power, they are just two bit thugs and petty thieves! Etienne De La Boetie understood this very well! Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Polpot, F.D.Roosevelt et all would not have been able to hurt and fight a brave mother or father who would protect his children and family against any threat, much less murder millions as they all did!

Popular resistance to the State orders, if successful will only slow down their plans, they will buy their times and will do it to our future generations as they are doing to us now! DEMOCIDE, war, and injustice will never be eradicated, and true liberty will never be realized as long as the State and its system of government power remains our fundamental modus vivendi!
